The Conference's main theme is

Working with disenfranchised, disadvantaged and disconnected people

We have an excellent line up with presentations from all over the UK and from far across the Atlantic! Sam Tsemberis is going to be in conversation with our very own Association Chair, Jim Bird-Waddington about the “Housing First” project for homeless people in New York, how it came about and the connections with SFP.

The Staffordshire YMCA in the form of Daniel Flynn, Chief executive officer, will give a view on how they manage disadvantaged and disenfranchised folk in a plenary session along with Andy Perkin, from the Potteries Heritage Society, who will talk about technology, social change and humane employment in the 18th century – the very foundations of today's culture in Stoke-on-Trent.

We have detailed plenary workshops from Mark McKergow and Suzi Curtis about further developments in SFP and the accreditation process.

Over the two days there are workshops and presentations from a beginner level introduction to SFP all the way to the neuroscience of SFP and just about everything in between, including our role as participants in social and climate change. As ever the conference will be playful, stretching, challenging and exciting. Your biggest difficulty as a delegate will be making the hard choices about what you go to!

Staffordshire University is offering a big warm welcome with on campus accommodation at discounted rates and dinner on Thursday night.

It promises to be engaging, socially and intellectually, fun and one of the best learning opportunities of the year in the SFP calendar.

The two Steves (Freeman and Flatt) and all the rest of the team look forward to greeting you all on the 25-26th June in Stoke-on-Trent for a brilliant two days!

Presentations and Workshops

We have a wide range of topics and speakers – some from outside the world of SF.

The Conference will aim to enable as many workshops/talks to be attended by as many people as possible. There will be the traditional dinner and high calibre cabaret on Thursday evening in the student’s union bar.

For Presenters

There is IT equipment present in every theatre and room. We will be asking for presentations to be sent in advance so they can be loaded prior to the conference. (Confidentiality will be maintained at all times until you present).

Accommodation

There are 100 single rooms available at the University (first come first served), priced at £21 per night (single bedroom, shared bathroom & kitchen), £26 per night (single ensuite bedroom & shared kitchen), plus £5 per day if you would like breakfast.  You can add these options to your registration by selecting the appropriate ticket type/s when booking (please check the date options carefully before completing your booking).
